Say It Today

Well, it happened. It took a little longer than I assumed it would, but it happened. I laid down in bed last night and it hit me – It was Thursday, and I didn’t publish an article. The horror!!

There are numerous excuses that I could make and sharing them with you might make me feel better about my oversight. They would provide a little cover for my mistake. They might even garner some sympathy for those reading today. But the bottom line is simple. I had something to say, and I didn’t say it. So, I will say it today. There is a great lesson to be learned from my missing article. (By the way, this can only work once. I’ve used up my one-time application from a forgotten assignment).

Do you have something that needs to be said? Is it something that you have put off for days, months, or even years? Is it something you should have said yesterday? Your excuses for not saying it might be as valid and justified as the ones I could share for my not writing yesterday. But guess what? It still needs to be said.

In his encouragement to the church at Rome to love fervently, Paul noted, “Do this, knowing the time, that it is already the hour for you to awaken from sleep; for now salvation is nearer to us than when we believed. The night is almost gone, and the day is near…” (Romans 13:11-12).

Do you need to offer an apology? Do you need to restore a broken relationship? Do you need to express gratitude for acts of kindness that were shown to you? Do you need to say, “I love you,” to a family member or friend? Do you need to offer a rebuke to a brother who is caught in sin? Do you need to introduce Jesus to someone in your life who has never met Him? Do you have something that needs to be said? Then say it today!
