God Did It Again
I find it intriguing – maybe funny – kind of sad – faith bolstering – I guess a lot of things as I sit at my computer. The eclipse is over and…well…we are still here. The earth is still spinning, the sun is on its “downhill trek to the western horizon” and God is on the throne. Once again, man predicted, and God laughingly refused to comply. Man has predicted the end of time and destruction of the earth for millennia and yet the world keeps turning. The only thing funnier might have been Him sending Jesus back and then announcing to the world: My Son’s return had nothing to do with the eclipse, in fact I did it as a joke. That is kind of what happened when He blessed Job. He told both Job and his friends that blessings and righteousness were not necessarily connected – meaning Job had not sinned in such a way to cause his suffering – then He blessed him again because He wanted to bless Him.
The Father will send His Son back when it pleases Him. He will send Him back when it brings Him glory. Until then, men will prophesy, the earth will remain in its cycle… (Genesis 8:22)
“While the earth remains,
Seedtime and harvest,
Cold and heat,
Summer and winter,
And day and night
Shall not cease.”
…the Lord will reign and I don’t know, maybe look at us and laugh a little bit at our arrogance.
