Change Controlled

At the time of this writing, fall is upon us. The weather is turning colder, and leaves are turning brilliant colors bringing the possibility of snow and the promise of winter that lies ahead. While we appreciate the beauty of the autumn events taking place right before us some might yearn for the new growth and hope that spring brings as well.

There is much we can find to be concerned about in the world today. The changing of seasons need not be one of our concerns. Enjoying the seasons can be made even more comforting when we recognize who is in control of the changes surrounding us.

Following the flood, while Noah was making the first sacrificial offering to the Lord, God made the following vow referencing these events:

“While the earth remains,

Seedtime and harvest,

And cold and heat,

And summer and winter,

And day and night

Shall not cease.” (Genesis 8:22)

God supplies functional stability that allows His creation to thrive while living on this earth.

Paul writes the following while speaking of Jesus:

“He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of all creation. For by Him, all things were created, both in the heavens and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities—all things have been created through Him and for Him. He is before all things, and in Him all things hold together.” (Colossians 1:15-17)

There is no reason to worry about the changing seasons because the One who has power is firmly in charge of holding things together. We can have confidence that as long as the earth remains, we can look forward to spring and summer visiting us once again next year.
