A Sunday school monitor entered the classroom while the lesson was in progress. Just to get a feel of the standard of teaching he asked the children, “Who tore down the walls of Jericho”? A small boy answered, “it wasn’t me, sir”.
The monitor turned to the teacher and asked if this was the standard in the class. The teacher replied, “The boy is usually quite honest, and I believe him.”
The monitor left the room in disgust and sought the director of education and explained what had happened. The director said, “I’ve known both the teacher and the boy concerned for several years and I’m sure that neither of them would do such a thing.”
The monitor then beside himself, went to the preacher. After explaining what had happened, the preacher replied, “You know, I feel that we are making a mountain out of a molehill in this case. Let us just pay the bill and write the sum off.”
