Remedy for Sin

Remedy for Sin

We have had some tragic events to take place in our nation this year – mass shootings, officers killed in the line of duty, etc. The big question seems to be WHY? The answer is easy – SATAN AND SIN. Now what is the remedy?

The Word of God – “How can a young man keep his way pure? By keeping it according to Thy word. Thy word I have treasured in my heart, that I may not sin against Thee.” (Psalm 119:9, 11)

The Gospel of Christ – When the Paul arrived at Corinth, there was a lot of undesirable things happening. “Or do you not know that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived; neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor homosexuals, nor thieves, nor the covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor swindlers, shall inherit the kingdom of God. And such were some of you; but you were washed, but you were sanctified, but you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, and in the Spirit of our God.” (1 Corinthians 6:9-11). What brought about this change? The Gospel! The Gospel is God’s power to save (Romans 1:16) and change (Romans 6:4).

Obedience – When the Gospel is obeyed from the heart, it brings about a change in life. The Bible calls it REPENTANCE. When Peter preached to the multitude on that first Pentecost, following the ascension of Jesus, he accused them of killing the Christ. “Therefore let all the house of Israel know for certain that God had made Him both Lord and Christ – this Jesus whom you crucified” (Acts 2:36). This broke their hearts and led them to ask, “What shall we do?” (Acts 2:37). “And Peter said to them, ‘Repent, and let each of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins; and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit” (Acts 2:38). God has always demanded obedience; starting with Adam.

The Blood of Jesus – Saul of Tarsus had been persecuting Christians, even to their deaths. What was he told to do in his conversion? “Arise, and be baptized, and wash away your sins, calling on His name” (Acts 22:16). What washed away his sins? “And from Jesus Christ, the faithful witness, the firstborn of the dead, and the ruler of the kings of the earth. To Him who loves us, and released us from our sins by His blood” (Revelation 1:5).

There is the solution – maybe it is time we share it with the world!
